How the Freedom Formula Transforms Contractors’ Businesses

September 11, 20253 min read

Running a contracting firm is not simple. It's easy to feel stuck or burdened when managing projects, acquiring new clients, and dealing with cash. That is why having a clear plan for success is critical.

In this week’s solo episode of the Hammer & Grind Podcast, we dive into a powerful concept designed to help contractors and business owners achieve true freedom in their business: The Freedom Formula.

This formula is simple yet profound, focusing on three positive elements:

1. Desire

Desire is the first element of the Freedom Formula. It's the driving force that propels you to start and grow your business. Most people have a natural desire to succeed, but the intensity of this desire can vary. Some are fueled by past traumas or the need to prove others wrong, while others are naturally inclined to pursue their goals. Regardless of the source, a strong desire is crucial for success.

2. Knowledge

Knowledge is the second element. To run a successful business, you need a certain level of expertise. This includes not only the technical skills related to your trade but also business acumen such as marketing, sales, hiring, leadership, and financial management. Knowledge is a continuous journey; there's always more to learn, and staying updated is essential for growth.

3. Action

Action is the third and most critical element. You can have all the desire and knowledge in the world, but without action, you won't achieve anything. Taking massive action, especially in marketing and networking, can significantly increase your chances of success. The more action you take, the more opportunities you create for yourself.

Limiting Beliefs

On the flip side, limiting beliefs can severely hinder your progress. These are negative thoughts and beliefs that restrict your potential. For example, thinking that you can't charge more because competitors are cheaper or believing that you can't find good help. These beliefs need to be identified and eliminated to maximize the effectiveness of your desire, knowledge, and action.

Action Steps

1. Assess Your Desire

Take a moment to evaluate your level of desire. Ask yourself how badly you want to succeed and what drives you. Understanding your motivation can help you harness your desire more effectively.

2. Expand Your Knowledge

Identify areas where you lack knowledge and commit to learning more. Whether it's through online courses, books, or mentorship, make a plan to continually expand your expertise in both your trade and business management.

3. Take Massive Action

Start taking massive action today. If you're not getting the results you want, increase your efforts. Spend more time on marketing, networking, and other activities that can drive your business forward. Remember, the more action you take, the more opportunities you create.

Conclusion

The Freedom Formula: (Desire + Knowledge + Action) - Limiting Beliefs = provides a clear path to achieving the freedom you want in your business. By focusing on these elements and taking consistent action, you can overcome obstacles and reach your goals.
